5 ways Georges St-Pierre became successful

Georges St-Pierre is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, and the UFC welterweight champion is widely regarded as the greatest 170 pound fight in the history of the sport. How'd he do it? Well here are five reasons why he has become as successful as he has.

1. Learning from Everyone and Everywhere

Georges St-Pierre has the mentality that he can learn from anyone. He has a beginner's mind or a white-belt mindset that he can constantly improve and take direction from everywhere on the planet. If there's something he finds interesting that he can incorporate into his life he will try it out and see if it can help. He will take up gymnastics, learn a spinning-back-kick from Joe Rogan, and learn from a variety of different disciplines and theories outside of martial arts to help his mind and body become the best it can be in competition.

2. Innovation

If you aren't getting better, you're getting worse. Because in MMA you have to continuously evolve to stay in the game. GSP knows this very well and tries to constantly advance his game in all areas. He is looking to find more effective and efficient ways to train, and efficiency is an obsession with him. Creativity and new avenues to improve are paramount for Georges St-Pierre.

3. Perfection

There's a famous Bruce Lee quote about repetition and perfection:
"I fear not the man who has practiced 10000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10000 times."

Georges St-Pierre belongs to the second category. He will drill a technique to death and after thousands of repetitions it becomes second nature. But to him it's not about casual repetition, it's about pinpoint accuracy and perfection.

4. Work Ethic

Thousands of hours of suffering are what have led to the success of GSP. He has toiled hard in the gym and giving everything he can possibly give to his craft. He works very hard and very smart.

5. Focus

Georges St-Pierre knows that for him to be the best in the world, he must have laser like focus on his goals and career. If something gets in the way of his goals, he sets it aside in his life. This has impacted some of his relationships in his life, but he knows that to be the very best on the planet in MMA, he has to make certain sacrifices.
